Valizas Hostel is situated in one of the most beautiful places in Uruguay: Barra de Valizas and Cape Polonio. It is a wild area with really fine sandy spots next to the mouth of the Valizas stream in the Atlantic Ocean. Its beach forms a wide sandy arch, surrounded by magnificient dunes, where the stunning Cerro de la Buena Vista is located, a granite promontory almost covered by sand. From its summit, the views are wonderful: Castillo Grande Islands, the little village, the beaches, Cape Polonio, Castillos Lake, all of them spread along an unforgettable landscape.
Barra de Valizas and its environment also combine a wide range of landscapes: some are rolling and rocky, other are sandy, palm groves, natural mountains, hills, marshlands, lake and ocean coasts, dunes and mobile dunes, paddy fields and a variety of crops..
The very high mobile dunes and sand dunes are other attractions in the Valizas Coast to Cape Polonio, popular for their dimensions and beauty. In this area, we find the largest ombú trees grouping in the Plata region situated at Castillos Lake shores: Ombues Mount, with an extension of 20 km. Also nearby you will be able to find some of the most significant historic monuments in the country: Santa Teresa Fort and San Miguel Fort. Thus, Valizas Hostel is a passport for the cultural exploration and the appreciation of nature. |
